In a deal that includes shirt sponsorship and support for the QPR foundation, Convivia were appointed sole principal partner of Queens Park Rangers football club earlier this year.
Having been appointed as principal partner, Convivia bought a corporate box at the club’s Loftus Road ground.
Ultimately intended to host clients and accommodate events, the box was a grey, uninspiring space that desperately needed an update in line with Convivia’s design philosophy.
The update would coincide with the media launch of their shirt sponsorship.
With only six weeks until launch, Convivia challenged Lomax Lifestyle to come up with the design intent for a fun and functional space that reflected their brand values and design style.
As a construction company, Convivia have the resources to implement the design. Our brief was to provide a design intent package for the concept and vision, then to create mood boards and colour profiles that could be used for working drawings and elevations.
Our recommendation was that the box should be consistent with the office design we created for Convivia in January 2022. Not only would that ensure consistency with Convivia’s branding, but also that visitors would get a similar experience as they moved between the two spaces.
As with their office, we began by considering the role of colour. Injecting splashes of yellow and Dulux’s Bright Skies (their colour of the year), we incorporated blue from QPR’s famous hoops, while contrasting with dark blue and gold of Convivia’s branding.
We introduced vertical timber panelling to the walls. This helped with acoustics, as well as adding warmth and depth to the back wall. Then, using LED lights and concealed lighting in the niches and around the artwork, we softened the space and added to the warmth created by the timber panelling.
Conviva’s logo was introduced subtly. Firstly, we used the club’s shirts as artwork, making sure the logo was clearly displayed. Then we introduced the logo on the fabrics and cushions that were used to break up the built-in seating.
The result is a warm, comfortable space that brings together elements from Convivia’s office with their brand values and design philosophy.
