The Sofitel London Heathrow is the only hotel that directly connects to terminal 5. The hotel has 605 bedrooms, including 27 suites. The unique design of this hotel incorporates a public walkway, known as ‘the street’, which links the guest bedroom blocks and provides access to all the hotel’s bars, restaurants and its award-winning spa.
There is a designated business suite with a banquet hall designed for large functions of over 1,100 people, an independent theatre and lecture hall and 45 individually designed meeting rooms.
Whilst Associate Director at KCA International, Martin worked closely with the owners Mr and Mrs Arora, and the Arora Group developments team. He led on the development of the interior concepts for all the key areas, from the initial sketch ideas through to fully implemented proposals, including design development and site management through to its completion in 2008. The interior design is very contemporary, using clean elegant lines and cool neutral colours, finishes include contrasting timbers of cherry and walnut that sit smartly against jura limestone and kashmir white granite.
Situated in one of the world busiest airports, there are hints and echoes of destinations of the continents across the world.
